Don't Forget To Ask Your Agent About A Good-Student Discount
Hard to believe that it's "back to school" season again. In this deep recession we're in, parents will be looking to save money as much as they can on college expenses. One often overlooked way to save on car insurance is the good-student discount that many insurance companies offer. However, like most discounts, your agent probably won't volunteer the savings information. You have to ask for it.Good-student discounts can be significant. Here's a clip from a recent WSJ article:
"...don't be shy about touting your child's grades to your insurer. Most companies offer "good student" discounts. For instance, State Farm takes 9% to 35% off a premium, depending on the student's gender and whether he or she is kept on the policy as an occasional driver or is at school..."

Agreed. The carriers who offer this discount provide a good savings. There are a few carriers who place little value in this.
absolutely nothing wrong with doing anything like that to reduce your premiums. In fact it would be a bit silly on the insurance policy user to not make use of this opportunity.
Some people forget one important rule: If you want something, ASK FOR IT. Ask about discounts for everything and save a fortune on car insurance. Great post.
Parents have another option if there child is away at college. Most insurance companies allow you to remove your child from a policy if they go to school over 100 miles away from home and don't have a car with them. This is great for a lot of freshman and even sophomore students that aren't allowed to have cars on campus.

if you want discounts ask for it..it can help you reduce the high rates..
